How to Cut Out Ornaments and Jig for Patterns

One of the most interesting challenges I faced was figuring out how to effectively cut out ornaments. How many ornaments can I cut out of one piece of clay, and how will I know when I’ve reached the finish line? The way I handled this was by quickly cutting the clay into squares. The artist can cut one ornament out of the square, and you’re done when you finish the pile.

I work with artists who face challenges like cerebral palsy, dyspraxia, and muscle weakness, which can make it tough to press the cookie cutter evenly. My solution: using a rolling pin to gently roll over the cookie cutter until you can see or feel its outline emerging on the other side.

The video expertly demonstrates how to effectively work with a pattern. Clearly draw the pattern on the marking jig, and if the direction is crucial, utilize googly eyes to indicate the proper orientation.
